Search Console and Bing
Connect a Site to Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, and its Search page shows the searches that bring Visitors: clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, a chart, keyword buckets (Winners, Losers, Opportunities, Quick wins, New and Lost) and a keyword explorer that opens each keyword into its pages, countries and devices.
We keep a copy of the engine's numbers per day, keyword, page, country and device, and fetch the newest days every hour.
Google Search Console
In the Site's Settings → Integrations, choose Connect with Google and sign in with a Google account that can read the website's Search Console property. We ask for read-only access to Search Console and nothing else.
Back on the settings page, pick the property and save. Domain properties (sc-domain:example.com) cover every
subdomain and protocol, so prefer them when you have one.
The last 30 days arrive at once, and the rest of Search Console's 16 months within a few hours. After that, every hour fetches the newest days, and the last three days again, because Google revises them.
Picking another property later removes the old property's data and fetches the new one's. When Google revokes access, for example after a password change, the settings page says so and offers Connect again.
Bing Webmaster Tools
In Bing Webmaster Tools, open Settings → API access → API key and generate a key. In the Site's Settings → Integrations, paste it under Bing Webmaster Tools. It is checked with Bing before it is saved, and stored encrypted. Then pick the verified Bing site and save.
Bing's API answers with its last six months at once, and reports keywords and pages separately, without countries or devices. So Bing's keywords and pages join the Search page, but its countries and devices stay empty. We ask Bing for new data twice a day.
Across the app
- The Search page has an engine filter (All, Google, Bing) once both are connected, and its chart stacks one series per engine.
- The Pages tab adds Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position per page, matched by path over the Range's days and unaffected by Filters, plus a Search clicks figure.
- All sites shows each Site's Search clicks over the 28 days up to its latest data, and their total.
- Search insights, the Search item on the all-sites level, gives a card per Site for 7, 28 or 90 days or 12 months, with the last sync time.
Good to know
- Google reports two to three days late, so the Search page's Ranges (7, 28 and 90 days, 12 months) end at the latest day with data, and compare with the same number of days before it.
- The key figures and the chart come from Google's daily totals. Keywords, pages, countries and devices come from the detailed rows, which leave out the queries Google anonymises, so they add up to less than the totals.
- Disconnecting removes the connection and every number copied from it.
